High school roundup: Tigers' Lorenze hits 1,000-point milestone

COCOLAMUS -- Senior guard/forward Nick Lorenz scored the 1,000th point of his career to help East Juniata dismantle Upper Dauphin for a 72-51 Tri-Valley League victory Friday.

Lorenz hit the milestone on his second shot of the game before he finished with 23 points, which was the second-highest total in the game behind teammate Bailey Coder, who tallied 27 points for East Juniata (2-0 overall and TVL).

In addition, Lorenz pulled down 10 rebounds while Coder had 15 caroms for the Tigers, who also got 11 points from David Brantley.

Mac Ney led Upper Dauphin (2-2, 1-1) with 13 points.

LEWISBURG -- Will Sigl dominated on both sides of the glass by scoring a game-high 21 points while also pulling down nine rebounds in the Green Dragons' HAC cross-over win.

Jesse Flannery added 12 points and four assists in the victory for Lewisburg (2-0).

"We really did a good job defensively," said Lewisburg coach John Vaji. "Nick Costagliola set a tone with his defensive performance, and the rest of the boys fed off his intensity and they did a real nice job."

Selinsgrove 55

SELINSGROVE -- Every time the Seals cut their deficit to a possession or two, the Wildcats would nail one of their nine 3-pointers in the game to pull away and eventually take the nonleague win.

Tyler Everhart and Travis Turchetta combined for 46 points and all nine 3-pointers for Central Mountain.

Isaiah Rapp tallied 15 points and Ethan Fadale had 14 to lead Selinsgrove (0-2).

"We kept getting it real close to within one possession or so, but every time Central Mountain just pulled a 3-pointer out of their hat. They are a real good shooting team," said Selinsgrove coach Mike Stebila.

TURBOTVILLE -- A game-high 29 points from Leon Ghezzi propelled the Indians to the nonleague win. Kallen Foresman led the Defenders (0-2) with 14 points.

n Greenwood 44,

Newport 31

MILLERSTOWN -- Adam Harrison led three players in double figures as the Wildcats took the Tri-Valley League win.

Harrison scored 16 points, while Noah Lebkicher and Joe Sheaffer tallied 11 points apiece for Greenwood (2-2, 1-1 TVL).

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Four of Columbia County's seven scorers were in double figures as they beat the Warriors for the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.

Austin Moore scored 15 points and Nathan York had 10 to lead Northumberland Christian (0-5, 0-2 ACAA). York also had 12 rebounds for the Warriors.

MIDDLEBURG -- The Mustangs got out to a 24-13 halftime lead and they would hold on for the nonleague victory. Morgan Shirk led Midd-West with 11 points.

MONTOURSVILLE -- A game-high 19 points from Kirsten O'Malley helped lift the Warriors to the nonleague win. Maggie Wetzel and Brooke Swartz both tallied 11 points for the Black Panthers.

n North Schuylkill 65,

COAL TOWNSHIP -- By the time the first quarter came to a close the Spartans already led by 14 points as they ran away for the nonleague win. Gabriann Lahr scored eight points to lead the Indians.

NORTHUMBERLAND -- All six of Northumberland's scorers tallied at least seven points apiece as the Warriors took the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association game.

Bethany Severn scored nine points, Jordan Carr had eight points, 16 rebounds and eight steals, and Bethany Conklin had 14 rebounds and seven steals to go along with seven points for the Warriors.


n Milton sweeps Danville

MILTON -- Behind a pair of high series from Colby Reichenbach and Halie Snyder, the Black Panthers won all four boys and girls matches against the Ironmen.

Reichenbach threw a 706 series on games of 257, 216 and 233 as Milton (4-0) had a team total of 3,274 pins. Snyder had a 630 series that included a high game of 248 for the Black Panthers (4-0).

n Lewisburg boys/Mifflinburg girls win

MILTON -- Nick Chamberlain's 639 series helped the Green Dragons sweep the Wildcats in boys action. In girls, freshman Keanna Delp rolled a 632 series to give Mifflinburg a 3-1 win.

Chamberlain had a high game of 235 for Lewisburg (4-0) against Mifflinburg (0-4).

Delp had games of 239 adn 235 for the Wildcats (3-1) against the Green Dragons (3-1), who got a 647 series from Alexis Neuer on games of 244 and 234.
