NEWARK, Del. -- Ryan Preisch won five matches at the Beast of the East Tournament, wrestling back for seventh place at the prestigious event Sunday.
Milton wrestlers won a total of 10 matches at the two-day event, led by senior Preisch and sophomore Brandon Stokes.
Preisch tore through his first three matches at 170 pounds -- posting two bonus-point wins and narrowly missing a third -- before dropping his quarterfinal bout to McDonogh's Myles Martin, 18-7.
Preisch, who recently won his 100th career match, got a pin in consy before losing a tight decision and moving to the seventh-place match. He blanked Isaac Bast of Perry (Massillon, Ohio), 7-0.
Stokes was pinned in his opening bout at 190, but then won three in a row, including a technical fall in 3:51. His weekend ended in the fourth round of consolations with a fall by Belmont Hill's Ryan Kelley.
Brian Smith (106) and Gage Heller (182) posted the other wins for the Black Panthers, who finished in 51st place.
