High school football: Brandley, Warford among TVL first-team selections


By a glance at the first team, Sedesse will find three of his offensive targets in various positions. The Vikings' Cole Barnhardt joined Campbell and Pine Grove's Ryan Heim at tailback while Cody Miller and Tim Schorr rounded out the Vikings' first-team selections at wide receiver and tight end respectively. Heim was named the Tri-Valley League most valuable player after unofficially running for 1,682 yards and 24 scores.

The rest of the first team was filled by East Juniata's Kevin Allen and Newport's Dalton Klinger at wide receiver, Pine Grove's Ryan Martin at center, Martin's teammate, Scott Werner, and Tri-Valley's Devin Masser at guard and Upper Dauphin's Dakotah Wiest and Pine Grove's Ryan Vuksta at tackle.

On the defensive side of the ball, Williams Valley's Trevor Whelski earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in addition to joining Warford as a first-team pick at inside linebacker. Pine Grove's Steve ZImmerman was chosen as the Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Rounding out the defensive first-team picks were Tri-Valley defensive end Hunter Herb, Williams Valley's Beau Yoder joined by Pine Grove's Jesse Fisher and Tri-Valley's Max Kroh. Schorr and Tri-Valley's Devin Masser were selected as outside linebacker and Juniata's Chad Eberle, Williams Valley's Matt Miller and Tri-Valley's Cale Bruso and Tanner Coleman were picked at defensive back.

Newport kicker Hunter Wirth and Pine Grove punter Jed Blankenhorn were also named to the first team and Tri-Valley's Hunter Harner was the recipient of the Coaches Award.
