High school roundup: Allen leads Lewisburg in tournament opener

WELLSBORO -- A big double-double by Sam Allen got Lewisburg off to a hot start in the Wellsboro Holiday Tournament on Friday as the Green Dragons took a 73-25 first-round victory over Montoursville.

Allen had 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Jesse Flannery had seven points and seven assists, and Matt Fedorjaka tallied 11 points for Lewisburg (6-0), which plays either Jersey Shore or Wellsboro for the title today at 7:30 p.m.

Pine Grove Holiday Tournament

n Danville 72,

New Hope Charter 63

PINE GROVE -- Led by Phil Stemm's game-high 25 points, a total of four players scored in double figures in the Ironmen's first-round win.

Austin Renz added 14 points for Danville (3-1), while Zack Kozick and Shayne Riley chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Danville next faces the Mahanoy Area-Pine Grove winner in today's final at 7:30 p.m.

Penns Valley Tournament

SPRING MILLS -- The Wildcats were outscored by nine points in the second quarter and they fell behind by double digits at the half to lose the first-round matchup.

James Zack scored 13 points, and Clark Sheakley added 11 points for Mifflinburg (4-2), which plays the Penns Valley-Bellefonte loser today at 5:30 p.m.

Perry County Holiday Tournament

ELLIOTTSBURG -- Adam Harrison scored 18 points, and Noah Lebkicher added 11 as the Wildcats took the first-round win. Greenwood (5-2) plays host West Perry in the championship game today at 7:30 p.m.

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Golden Tigers outscored the Braves 30-11 in the final quarter to pull away for the nonleague victory.

Austin Mowery led Shikellamy (3-4) with 12 points, while Garrett Kemberling and Derek Amerman both added 10 points for the Braves.
