High school roundup: Danville boys escape Mifflinburg with win

MIFFLINBURG -- Trying to play spoilers, Mifflinburg stayed with Danville for much of the game, but the Ironmen managed to escape with a 41-33 Heartland-I victory Saturday.

Danville (12-5, 9-2 HAC-I) took advantage of a couple of Mifflinburg turnovers late in the game for some key points. The Ironmen out-scored the Wildcats, 15-9, in the fourth.

"It was a close game throughout," said Mifflinburg coach Andre Roupp.

Zack Kozick scored 13 points, and Dan Seebold had 10 for Danville.

Logan Finsterbush paced Mifflinburg (7-10) with 12.

n Milton 50,

Midd-West 26

MIDDLEBURG -- Ethan Baker scored 17 points to lead Milton (10-7), which out-scored Midd-West (3-13) 19-7 in the second quarter to take control.

Andrew Karchner scored 12 points for Midd-West.

n Lewisburg 54,

Central Columbia 35

LEWISBURG -- Jesse Flannery, Matt Fedorjaka, Sam Allen and Nadir Doone all scored 10 points apiece to lead the Green Dragons.

n Loyalsock 81,

Warrior Run 39

TURBOTVILLE -- The Lancers had five players in double figures in a HAC-II win. Jared Bender led Warrior Run (5-11) with nine.

n Greenwood 62,

MILLERSTOWN -- Three players scoring in double figures -- Adam Harrison leading the way with 15 -- led the Wildcats (14-5) to a non-league win.

n Lourdes Regional 54,

COAL TOWNSHIP -- The Red Raiders' 1,001st win in program history was a tough one after the hosts let slip a seven-point halftime lead. Jordan Fobia had 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists to lead Lourdes (10-9).


n Shik has near sweep

SUNBURY -- Jake Kratzer and Earl Malick each had a 600 series in the Braves' 4-0 win over the Wildcats, while on the girls side Shikellamy took a 3-1 victory behind a 558 series by Justice Heller.

Kratzer had high games of 228 and 224, while Malick rolled a 247 game in his series for Shikellamy (23-1). Jimmy Hackenberg led Miffllinburg with a 609 series.

n Midd-West dominates

SELINSGROVE -- The Mustangs rolled three 600 series to win the boys match, 4-0, while a 610 series by Jenna Yarger helped Midd-West's girls team take a 3-1 win over Selinsgrove.

Chris Houtz had a 664 series to lead Midd-West (23-6). His high game was a 242.

Yarger had a high game of 224, plus Beth Longer rolled a 252 game on the day for Midd-West (25-3).

n Danville girls/Central boys sweep

DANVILLE -- Indeah Lewis busted out a conference-best 718 series (248-224-246) to lead the Ironmen to a 4-0 HAC win.
