MANDATA -- Brady Renn slammed a deep, run-scoring hit to left field to plate Matt Howerter with the winning run Tuesday, capping Line Mountain's comeback for a 5-4 win over Sunbury-Northumberland in a Susquehanna Valley American Legion League game.
Line Mountain, held scoreless through the first five innings by Ryan Kenney, scored twice in the sixth before Sunbury-Norry tacked on a seventh-inning run for a 4-2 lead.
Wade Wetzel led off the home seventh with a single and went to second when Brady Michael's fly to left field was misplayed. A comebacker moved the runners into scoring position, and Wetzel raced home on a groundout. With two outs, Post 504 got another break as Howerter's grounder to second base was thrown away, allowing Michael to score the tying run.
Renn then hammered a ball over the left fielder's head, and Howerter raced to score the game-winning run from first base.
Erik Smeltz had a pair of hits and an RBI for the winners (1-1), while Howerter added an RBI-double.
Jean Turber led Sunbury/Norry with pairs of hits and RBIs.
