High school roundup: Sickle, Selinsgrove notch first win

BOYS BASKETBALL

SELINSGROVE -- Behind a season-high 13 points from Andrew Sickle, Selinsgrove finally got the monkey off its back by taking a 40-31 Heartland-I victory over Midd-West on Friday.

Ethan Fadale added 11 points for Selinsgrove (1-8, 1-4 HAC-I), which held Midd-West (0-5 HAC-I) to just three points in the fourth quarter.

Dyllan Folk tallied 15 points to lead the Mustangs.

Jersey Shore 55

DANVILLE -- Austin Renz scored 19 of his 22 points in the first half, and Phil Stemm added 14 of his 23 as Danville took control of the HAC-I contest.

The Ironmen led 42-23 at halftime, thanks in large part to four of Renz's five 3-pointers.

Zack Kozick added 10 points for Danville (5-2).

n Lewisburg 73,

Warrior Run 35

LEWISBURG -- The Green Dragons jumped out to a 43-16 halftime lead to roll to the HAC-II win. Sam Allen had 17 points and Matt Fedorjaka chipped in 16 to lead Lewisburg (10-0, 5-0 HAC-II). Warrior Run falls to 2-6, 1-3.

n Central Columbia 51,

CATAWISSA -- Mike Klebon scored 17 of his 22 points in the second quarter, but it was too little, too late as the Tigers' second-half rally fell short against the Blue Jays in HAC-II action. Payton Aucker led Central with 25 points.

n Greenwood 54,

Millersburg 42

MILLERSBURG -- Adam Harrison scored 18 points, and Tyler Fegley tallied 12 as the Wildcats took the Tri-Valley League win. Seth Ferguson added 10 points for Greenwood (7-3, 4-2 TVL).

n East Juniata 58,

Newport 46

NEWPORT -- Three of the five players who scored in the TVL matchup for the Tigers tallied double figures, with Nick Lorenz leading the way with 19 points. East Juniata improves to 8-0, 6-0 in league play.

n Halifax 56,

HALIFAX -- The Wildcats out-scored the Eagles 28-18 in the second half to hold on for the TVL win.

Dylan Barthalomew led Line Mountain (1-10, 1-5 TVL) with 19 points and 12 rebounds, plus Elijah Zablosky added 11 points and 12 boards for the Eagles.

n Mahanoy Area 68,

MAHANOY CITY -- The Red Raiders had nearly as many turnovers in the game (25) as they did points, as Lourdes fell in the Schuylkill League matchup. Michael Gilger had nine points and five rebounds for the Red Raiders (7-5 overall).

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Austin Moore and Nathan York both posted double-doubles to lead the Warriors to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.

Moore totaled 13 points and 18 rebounds, while York had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Northumberland Christian (2-8, 2-3 ACAA).

n Meadowbrook Chr. 60,

HARRISBURG -- Austin Schott knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 26 points in the Lions' non-league victory. Tyler Baughman added 15 points in the win for Meadowbrook (5-3).

Midd-West 15

MIDDLEBURG -- A two-point first quarter put the Mustangs in a deep hole early, and the Indians cruised to the HAC-I win.

Olivia Bonshock scored 12 points, and Shaylee Pesarchick had 10 for Shamokin (6-6 overall).

Midd-West falls to 4-5.

n Norry Christian 41,

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Bethany Severn's double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds helped lift the Warriors to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.

Dorothy Ann Reich added eight points and 15 rebounds, plus Bailey King had eight points and seven steals for Northumberland Christian (8-4, 4-1 ACAA).

n Sunbury Christian 31,

DANVILLE -- Becky Gingrich and Tori Erdman combined for 20 rebounds as the Eagles pulled out a defensive win in ACAA action. Erdman had 13 points and nine rebounds for Sunbury Christian (6-2, 4-0 ACAA).
