College basketball: Bloomsburg splits pair with East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG — The 20th-ranked Bloomsburg University women’s basketball team overcame foul trouble and tight defense from East Stroudsburg to win its 13th straight game, 61-48, at ESU’s Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies (20-3, 11-2 PSAC East) never trailed on Saturday en route to securing a season sweep over East Stroudsburg (13-11, 8-6). Bloomsburg is the first PSAC East team to win at Koehler Fieldhouse this season.


East Stroudsburg 93, Bloomsburg 77

EAST STROUDSBURG — Bloomsburg closed to within five points with 5:22 remaining before No. 6 East Stroudsburg exploded over the final minutes for victory.

East Stroudsburg (23-1, 13-1) clinched the PSAC East regular season title with the win. ESU opened the game on an 11-0 run and led by as many as 18 points during the first half, taking a 50-38 lead into halftime.

The Huskies (14-9, 9-4) charged back during the second half,

however. Bloomsburg used a 12-5 run over the opening portion of the second period to close within seven at 62-55, but the Huskies would never get closer than five the rest of the way.
