SUNBURY — If Shikellamy needed a spark to ignite the team going into the final few weeks of the season, Nick Dunn may have just provided it.
Dunn, a junior right-hander, threw a no-hitter as Shikellamy edged Selinsgrove, 3-0, in a Heartland-I matchup Wednesday.
It was Dunn’s first no-hitter, and the first no-hitter in recent memory for Shikellamy (6-5, 4-3 HAC-I). Dunn finished with seven strikeouts and one walk.
The Braves scored all three of their runs in the third inning behind an RBI single by Colby Lahr. The two additional runs scored on an error by Selinsgrove (4-6 overall).
Shikellamy will look to stay above .500 when the Braves travel to Montoursville on Friday.
Montgomery 4, Danville 3
DANVILLE — Despite a solid pitching effort from Bryson Cromley, Danville couldn’t overcome Montgomery’s four-run third inning, falling just short in the nonleague game.
Cromley gave up just one hit and struck out five batters in his 4 1/3 innings of relief work for Danville (4-5).
Line Mountain 10, Greenwood 0
MANDATA — The Eagles scored four runs in the first inning and they never looked back in taking the Tri-Valley League win.
JP Lenker, Colton Gaw and Cody Romanoskie led Line Mountain (8-1, 6-0 TVL) by getting two hits apiece, with Lenker leading the Eagles with three RBIs.
Upper Dauphin 13, Juniata 3 (6 innings)
ELIZABETHVILLE — A 10-run outburst by the Trojans in the first two innings of their TVL win was highlighted by Tim Cleveland’s three-run double in the second.
Dylan Lesher picked up the win for Upper Dauphin (9-1, 7-0 TVL),
East Juniata 2, Millersburg 1
MILLERSBURG — A triple by Dalton Rowe and a double by Kyle Hart led to both of the Tigers’ runs and to a TVL win over the Indians.
Hart doubled to lead off the second and he would then score on a pair of errors on a ball hit by Mason Hambright.
