It may not have been a banner year for the Valley's boys basketball teams in the 2012-13 state playoffs, but three players still received honors as the Pennsylvania Sports Writers selected their all-state teams.

Shikellamy's Ernie Tyler was named to the Class AAA third team, while Lewisburg's Travis Conrad and East Juniata's Nick Lorenz were placed on the Class AA third team.

A 6-foot-3 senior guard, Tyler averaged 13.2 points per game and he led the Braves in scoring with 344 points.

Tyler also recorded 43 3-pointers and he scored at least 20 points three times this season for a Shikellamy team that finished second in District 4 before bowing out in the first round of the PIAA playoffs to Abington Heights.

Conrad's Lewisburg team defeated Lorenz's East Juniata squad in the District 4 consolation game to qualify for states.

A 5-10 senior guard, Conrad averaged 15.0 points per game this season and finished with a team-leading 420 points. He also knocked down the area's second-most 3-pointers (53).

Conrad scored 20 or more points in a game three times this season, including a career-high 29 in Lewisburg's loss to Holy Cross in the first round of states.

Lorenz, a 6-1 junior guard, scored 475 points this year (21.0 ppg) and he was the only area player to average 20 points per game. He also hit 43 3-pointers this season.

Elsewhere from District 4, Loyalsock 6-5 senior Roger Wilson (15.0 ppg) was named to the Class AA first team. Wilson's teammate, 5-10 sophomore guard Kyle Datres (9.9 ppg), earned a spot on the third team for the Lancers.
