H.S. roundup: Shikellamy, Selinsgrove play to draw in girls soccer

SUNBURY -- After two overtime periods, neither Selinsgrove nor Shikellamy could find the back of the net as the two squads ended their Heartland-I matchup with a 0-0 tie on Tuesday.

The Braves (6-5-1, 3-5-1 HAC-I) out-shot the Seals (9-1-2, 6-1-2), 10-4.

"Both teams had opportunities, but no one could finish," Shikellamy coach Angela Sivillo said. "It was a good game."

The Braves travel to Danville on Thursday to play under the lights.

WILLIAMSPORT -- Behind two unassisted goals by Paige Harris, the Ironmen took the HAC-I matchup at Balls Mills, and in the process got back to .500 on the season.

Kayla Morran made five saves to get the shutout for Danville (5-5-1, 5-4-1 HAC-I), which will have a tough time getting over that .500 mark when the Ironmen host Shikellamy on Thursday.

Lewisburg 1

LEWISBURG -- Janelle Arbogast scored twice in the game, but her second goal broke a 1-all tie and gave the Mustangs the HAC-I win.

Kenedi Moyer later gave Midd-West (5-6, 3-5 HAC-I) an insurance goal with 5:38 left in the second half.

All three goals were unassisted for the Mustangs, as was the Green Dragons' tally from Elke Velz.

JERSEY SHORE -- Holding onto a slim one-goal lead midway through the second half, the Defenders got an insurance goal from Gabby Heiss in the 68th minute as the Defenders took the HAC-II win.

Maddie Beyer scored off an Olivia George assist in the 38th minute to give Warrior Run (8-4, 7-2 HAC-II) a halftime lead. Heiss' goal was unassisted.

n Montoursville 2,

Milton 0

MONTOURSVILLE -- Single goals from Lauren Walker and Carly Mill were all it took for the Warriors to take the HAC-I win. The goals were scored on a free kick and a penalty kick for Montoursville.

Mifflinburg 2

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Gabby Lahr recorded a hat trick and Mackenzie Koharski added a goal and an assist in the Indians' HAC-II win. Madison Machmer and Teisha Spade scored for the Wildcats.

n Meadowbrook Chr. 4,

Sunbury Christian 0

MILTON -- A two-goal, two-assist day by Madison Burrows propelled the Lions to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.

Sisters Emily and Katie Benfer each added a goal and an assist in the win for Meadowbrook (11-0-1, 8-0-1 ACAA).

MILTON -- Marcus Betzer scored twice and had an assist as the Lions cruised to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.

Austin Schott added a pair of assists in the rout for Meadowbrook (12-3, 8-0 ACAA).

COCOLAMUS -- The only advantage the Tigers had in the game was a 4-0 edge in corner kicks as the Tri-Valley League game ended in a scoreless tie. East Juniata moves to 7-2-3, 6-0-3 in league play.

SUNBURY -- Freshman Cassie Sumfest scored four goals and assisted on the fourth in the Green Dragons' HAC-I win over the Braves.

Sumfest had the assist on Maddie Scarr's goal which opened the scoring for the Green Dragons (10-2-1, 6-2 HAC-I).

Lancaster Country Day 2

LANCASTER -- Katie Barton and Hattie Kuhns scored two goals apiece to lead the Wildcats to the Tri-Valley League victory.

Kuhns and Barton each added an assist for Greenwood (9-4, 5-1 TVL), while Mallory Fortenbaugh contributed a goal and an assist in the win.

Warrrior Run 0

TURBOTVILLE -- The Panthers' Kayla Rostucher recorded a hat trick in the HAC-II win over the Defenders. All three goals were scored in a two-minute span of the second half, with between 14:58 and 12:47 remaining.

n East Juniata 1,

Line Mountain 0

MANDATA -- Steph Dressler scored the lone goal to give the Tigers the TVL win. East Juniata improves to 7-3-1, 4-1-1 in league play; while Line Mountain drops to 5-6-2, 2-2-1.


n Mifflinburg boys/Selinsgrove girls sweep

BLOOMSBURG -- Led by Quincy Amabile's first-place finish in 17 minutes and 31 seconds, the Wildcats swept their HAC cross-over meet versus Bloomsburg, Midd-West, Selinsgrove and Southern Columbia.

The Seals' Brody Beiler finished a close second in 17:39.

On the girls side, Ashley Blair won for Selinsgrove in 21:29 ahead of Sarah Lemon's runner-up time of 21:59 for Mifflinburg.

n Lewisburg boys/girls both sweep meets

LEWISBURG -- The Green Dragons ended their regular seasons on high notes by easily taking four wins apiece in the HAC cross-over quad meet over Jersey Shore, Shikellamy and Warrior Run.

The Defenders' Spencer Williamson won the boys race in 17:46 ahead of Lewisburg's Nick Scullin (18:11).

In the girls race, Shikellamy freshman Yoangelys Cedeno won in 20:14. Lewisburg's Blake Baylor was second in 20:35.

Braves sophomore Treicy Cedeno didn't run due to an injury she suffered during the day in gym class.
