As is the norm, teams from the Williamsport area dominated the 2013 Heartland Athletic Conference All-Star selections, but a few local players managed to grab some spots.
Danville sophomore Linda Yang was named to the Division I first team following an outstanding season that resulted in her advancing to the PIAA Championships following her runner-up finish in the District 4 singles tournament.
Jersey Shore senior Sara Danley and Williamsport junior Maggie Manchester join Yang as singles players who were named to the Division I first team.
The doubles duos to be named to the Division I first team were Williamsport's Livia Nash and Taryn Peacock, plus Montoursville's Mikala Shaffer and Mackenzie Rodrigues.
Named to the Division I second team from the area were doubles players Libby King, a junior, and Sydney Hartzell, a sophomore, from Lewisburg.
Williamsport's John Dorner was the Division I's Coach of the Year after he led the Millioniares to yet another conference crown.
In Division II, the first-team singles players were Bloomsburg's Ivy-Rose Kramer, Hughesville's Courtney McCowan and Loyalsock's Pam Niditch. The doubles teams consisted of Hughesville's Olivia Gorg and Allison Mattucci, plus Bloomsburg's Molly Williams and Liz Drumm.
Kramer fell to Yang in the District 4 semifinals, 6-3, 6-1; while Niditch beat the Ironmen's All-Star in the finals, 6-1, 6-1.
The Panthers' Bill Finnerty and the Spartans' April Brown shared the Division II's Coach of the Year honors. Finnerty led his team to the conference title.
