H.S. softball: HAC all-star teams released

By The Daily Item

While Jersey Shore ended their season in the District 4 Class AAA semifinals, Mifflinburg's talented team wasn't overlooked, as all nine of the Wildcats' starters were either first- or second-team HAC all-stars, which were released on Wednesday afternoon.

Talented pitcher Alli Lloyd, catcher Kelcie Crabb and first baseman Sara Stauffer were all selected to the HAC Division I first team while teammates Kayla Kline, Nicole Brouse, Mackenzie Kyler, Margaret Wiand, Molly Davis and McKenzie Noll were all given second team honors.

Lloyd ended her senior season with the third most strikeouts in the Valley, trailing just Southern Columbia's Mallory Tomaschik and Warrior Run's Tay Parker, respectively.

District 4 Class AAA finalists Milton received six selections, as catcher Mack Miller, outfielder Linea Brouse and Kiah Brink were first team choices as pitcher Taylor Batman, Bayli Derr and Dani Lincoln were named to the cecond team.

Lincoln was chosen as a utility player.

Senior catcher Brynn Musser (second team) and Ellen Spriggle (first team) were the two representations for Selinsgrove.

Danville's Zina Knight and Alyssa Shaw both earned first team selections while pitcher Tara Fritz was elected to the second team.

Jennifer Hornberger was the lone selection for Shamokin, receiving a second team honor.

In Division II, it was Warror Run who had the most area selections, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise for a team which returned 8 starters from the 2012 Class AA state finalist squad.

Senior pitcher and the Defenders' all-time strikeout leader Tay Parker was a first team choice in the circle while outfielders Katy Swartz and Gabby Shrawder joined first baseman Jackie Clemens and third baseman Devin Nicholas as first team picks.

Short stop Carra Rishel and catcher Lynn Vermilya were the Defenders' only two second team choices.
