DANVILLE -- Danville manager Harold Albertson said that there are a number of players on his team willing to give their all.

His boys made their manager proud in a 10-2 American Legion win over Line Mountain on Monday.

Zach Brent showcased his desire to give 100 percent on a foul ball that was quickly approaching the right-side fence behind first base in the third inning as Brent sprinted over. Reaching out at the last second, Brent held onto the ball as he crashed into the fence.

"(Brent) gives you all he's got to give," Albertson said. "He'll go through that fence if he had to."

He quickly shook himself off and walked back to first base, which could stand for the way Danville (3-1) played. Line Mountain tried speed on the base paths and changing the hitter's eye by putting a side-armed pitcher on the hill, but nothing fazed Albertson's bunch.

Danville scored early to give Bryson Cromley a lead to work with on the mound and Cromley did not look back, firing six-plus innings before giving way to Dalton Lupini to close out the game.

"Run support is always helpful," Cromley said. "It helps to work with a cushion."

The fifth inning helped Danville turn a game that was a string of hits at 5-1 from possibly being tied into a clear victory.

"The kids really came through in the clutch tonight," Albertson said.

In the bottom of the fifth, Cody Keefer started and ended the inning for Danville, as the home team batted around while scoring five runs. Danville was not afraid to give up an out to move a runner into scoring position and they used a sacrifice bunt to kick-start a big inning.

Keefer worked a walk and was moved to second on a bunt before an RBI double from third baseman Mark Mullery and a walk by Dan Seebold spelled the end for Line Mountain starter Brady Carl.
