Area roundup: Meadowbrook Christian girls make ACAA final

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Micayla Lynd scored 21 points to pace three Meadowbrook Christian scorers in double figures as the Lions advanced to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association girls final with a 58-39 victory over Great Commission.

Mary Adams and Madison Burrows followed Lynd with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Meadowbrook outscored Great Commission 36-13 in the middle quarters to take a commanding lead.

The Lions (16-6) play Sunbury Christian for the ACAA crown today at 1 p.m. at Northumberland Christian School.

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Despite having five players post double figures in either points or rebounds, the Lions fell in the semifinals of the tourney played at Northumberland Christian.

Austin Schott led Meadowbrook (14-8) with 15 points and Tyler Baughman had 14, while Graham Feaster pulled down 15 rebounds and Curtis Klodnick collected an additional 10 caroms for the Lions.

Meadowbrook plays Cambria County Christian in the consolation game today at 11:30 a.m.

Shikellamy 61

SUNBURY -- Ernie Tyler and his seven 3-pointers kept the Braves in the game, but the Little Lions proved to be too much to handle as they took the nonleague win.

Tyler finished with a game-high 30 points, and brother C.J. Tyler added 10 points for Shikellamy (12-9), which has one more game to play before the District 4 playoffs.

The Braves play at Central Mountain on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Kyle Kanaskie and Ryan Sekunda both had 19 points for State College (15-7).
