High School Roundup: Warrior Run softball romps to victory


Eight different girls got at least one hit to combine in a 14-4, five-inning Heartland-II win as Warrior Run downed Lewisburg in softball action Tuesday.

Jackie Vognetz got the win and Mackenzie Gardner drove in three runs for Warrior Run (3-7).


Midd-West 11,

Benton 1 (5 innings)

MIDDLEBURG — The Mustangs scored all 11 of their runs in the first inning to cruise to the nonleague win. Midd-West (9-1) had 12 hits in the game, six of them going for either a double or a triple.


Mifflinburg 3,

Williamsport 2

WILLIAMSPORT — Following singles wins by Matt Southerton and Cameron Murphy, Sam Beiler and Ian Reish wrapped up the Wildcats’ HAC-I victory by taking the No. 1 doubles match for Mifflinburg (8-6).


Lewisburg 16,

Mifflinburg 2

MIFFLINBURG — A nine-point day by Matt Fedorjaka (4G, 5A) propelled the Green Dragons to the Central Susquehanna Lacrosse League win. Lewisburg improves to 8-0.


Lewisburg 23,

Mifflinburg 15

MIFFLINBURG — Jessica Penn scored seven goals and Hannah Gotoff tallied six to lead the Green Dragons to the CSGLL win. Lewisburg improves to 3-7, 3-2 in league play.


Warrior Run 103,

Hughesville 47

HUGHESVILLE — Jared McHenry set a school record with a 14-foot, 9-inch effort in the pole vault as the Defenders took the HAC-III win. Elias George and Noah Rosencrans were both double-event winners for Warrior Run (3-0).

Milton 104,

Danville 46

DANVILLE — The Black Panthers won each field event in addition to all but four events on the track to cruise to the HAC-II win. Leading winners for Milton were Chris Reuss (100, 200), Norman Whaley (LJ/TJ) and Greg Shultz (HJ/PV).


Warrior Run 79,

HUGHESVILLE — Mackenzie Mathna won a pair of jumping events (TJ, HJ) and Tori Ross won three events (400, 800, 3,200R) to lead the Defenders past the Spartans for the HAC-III win. Warrior Run improves to 3-0.

Danville 108.5,

Milton 42.5

DANVILLE — Katie Maffei won two events on the track (800, 1,600), while Shelby Freedman won the javelin, long jump and triple jump in the HAC-II win for the Ironmen.
