PINE GROVE -- Ryan Heim torched the Upper Dauphin defense for 297 yards on the ground and two touchdowns as Pine Grove beat Upper Dauphin, 21-14, Saturday.
Both of Heim's touchdowns came in the second quarter on runs of 58 and 51 yards. Trey Campbell led Upper Dauphin on the ground with 112 yards and a score. Both teams relied heavily on the running game with the Cardinals and Trojans combined to go 3-for-15 through the air.

HERSHEY -- Although the PIAA Championship meet is still more than a month away, on Saturday the state got an early look at what the Heartland Athletic Conference will have to offer when that time does come the first weekend of November.
Danville's boys and girls teams finished third and fourth, respectively, in the Class AA race, and the Ironmen also got second-place individual finishes from Tyler Vella and Mackenzie Jones on the day as well.
Also on the boys side, Mount Carmel finished ahead of Danville, 133-165. Pottsgrove won with 101 points.
Vella completed the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes and six seconds, just 23 seconds behind winner Dominic Hockenbury of Lake Lehman and a few seconds ahead of Mifflinburg fourth-place finisher Quincy Amabile (17:14). Cory Hoffman led Mount Carmel by finishing sixth in 17:21.
Danville's girls totaled 175 points in the Class AA race to finish behind Archbishop Wood's winnning total of 100.
Jones completed her race in 19:55, 38 seconds behind winner Alexis O'Shea of West Allegheny. Mifflinburg's Sarah Lemon was the area's next-highest finisher as she was 25th in 21:31.

TURBOTVILLE -- A goal by Erika Landis with 18:40 remaining in the game broke a tie and gave the Defenders the HAC cross-over win.
