College notebook: Former Dragon enters Hall of Fame

Former Lewisburg field hockey standout Stephanie Fisher Tanner was inducted into the Gettysburg College Hall of Fame this past weekend.

Tanner, a 2000 graduate of Gettysburg, still owns all of the scoring records for the Bullets' field hockey squad.

She finished with 132 points and 56 goals during her career. Fisher twice earned Centennial Conference Player of the Year honors and was a four-time all conference selection. She was named All-America in each of her final two seasons, including a first-team nod in 1998. Tanner, who currently lives in Berwyn, led Gettysburg to three conference titles and a pair of national playoff appearances.

Sticking with the field hockey theme, former Selinsgrove standout Ashtin Klinger has helped the Penn State University field hockey to a No. 8-ranking in the country.

The Nittany Lions, who beat Miami of Ohio and Indiana, in their Big Ten opener this weekend, have won six matches in a row. Klinger has scored in five of those matches, including two goals against the Hoosiers on Sunday afternoon. Klinger is tied for the team-lead in goals with seven.

Another former Seal, Haley Kerstetter is a sophomore back for Penn State.

Mifflinburg graduate Danielle Ard is a freshman goalkeeper for the East Stroudsburg University field hockey team.

Ard has played in three games this season, starting two. She has seven saves this season.

Lahr has appeared in three games for Bloomsburg, while Zimmerman has yet to appear in a game.

The Huskies are 4-4, 0-1 PSAC.
