SUNBURY -- The Shikellamy wrestling community will pay tribute to the memory of its longtime successful wrestling coach when the program holds what it plans as an annual Phil Lockcuff Duals.
The five-team tournament is set for Saturday, Dec. 21, and will include a ceremony during the afternoon to dedicate the gym at the Shikellamy Field House for Lockcuff, who died early this year.
The tournament, starting at 9 a.m., will include teams from Kennard-Dale, Bloomsburg, Juniata, West York and Coatesville in addition to the host Braves.
With Kennard-Dale in the event, fans will get a chance to see a reigning three-time state champion, Chance Marstellar, who has yet to lose a bout in high school competition. Moreover, the senior is coached by former Shikellamy wrestler Mike Balestrini, who was coached by Lockcuff.
Marsteller, wrestling at 170 pounds, is 125-0 for his career and recently committed to wrestle next season at Oklahoma State.
The dedication is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and, from that point on, the gymnasium will be known as "the Phil Lockcuff Gymnasium."
Shikellamy will wrestle Kennard-Dale after the conclusion of the ceremony.
There will be a social gathering after the tournament at the Sunbury Elks to celebrate the occasion. Tickets for that event will be available at all Shikellamy home meets as well as during the day at the tournament.
