KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia - Berwick’s Jayson Terdiman and his partner, Christian Niccum, completed their Olympic luge runs this morning, finishing in 11th place and making them the top American finishers in the men’s doubles event.
The pair finished their first run with a time of 50.354 seconds, and their second with a time of 50.591 seconds, placing them just above 2 seconds off the German gold-medal winners.
This was 25-year-old Terdiman’s first Olympics and Niccum’s third. Niccum has said he will retire after the games.
Terdiman is a native of Berwick, Columbia County, posted on Facebook shortly before taking off Wednesday, talking about what just competing in the games means to him.
“I just want to thank everyone for all your support throughout this long journey,” he said. “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of you! Looking forward to fully enjoying this experience.”
