With the regular season all but over and seeding locked in, the District 4 playoff schedule was announced on Sunday afternoon.
A total of 20 area teams on both the boys and girls side made it into the District 4 playoffs and will look to advance starting with the first set of games on Tuesday.
On the boys side in the Class A field, Lourdes earned a No. 3 seed and plays No. 6 Sayre on Thursday at Montoursville. Lourdes has been led this season by Zach Oquendo's 270 points and Matt Savitski's 232. The top three teams from the Class A field advance to the PIAA state tournament.
In Class AA, No. 8 Line Mountain faces No. 9 Canton from the Northern Tier League. The Eagles have a potent duo of Cole Rickert and Bill Breinich, each of whom are amongst the Top 10 area players in points per game, at 14.7 and 14.5, respectively.
No. 4 East Juniata earned a bye into the next round and faces No. 5 Towanda. Nick Lorenz leads the area in points per game with 21.3 -- the only area player averaging over 20 ppg -- and 425 total points with the Tigers. Bailey Coder is averaging 12.3 as well for East Juniata.
The top three finishers in the Class AA field advance into the PIAA state tournament.
The Class AAA field looks to have some of the more intriguing match ups on the boys side. No. 4 Shikellamy will face No. 5 Mifflinburg, a familiar HAC-I foe, on Friday at Milton. The Tyler brothers -- Ernie and C.J. -- have been playing solid all season for the Braves, with Ernie leading the team with 277 points and C.J. scoring 251.
Mifflinburg is led by Jeremy Uscowskas who is averaging just inside 10 ppg.
Both Danville (No. 1) and Milton (No. 3) earn byes into the second round. The Black Panthers face No. 2 Athens at a time and place to be determined while the Shikellamy/Mifflinburg winner advances to play the Ironmen.
