Motorsports notebook: Weather playing havoc with local tracks

SELINSGROVE — WEST BOUND AND DOWN: Sunbury sprint car driver Mark Smith will be heading to Indiana to enjoy some nonwing racing beginning Wednesday. He will compete with the United States Auto Club National Sprint Car Series in the famed Tony Hulman Classic at the half-mile Terre Haute Action Track. He’ll also be racing at quarter-mile Bloomington Speedway along with weekend action at Tri-State and Lawrenceburg speedways.

SPRING BREAK: Port Royal Speedway is silent this week for its spring break and will return to action on May 24. A three-division show is on tap that night for the 410 and 305 sprint cars and super late models.

JUST LIKE DAD: At Big Diamond Speedway last Friday night, Tim Fitzpatrick Sr. and his son Tim Jr. visited victory lane in the sportsman modified and roadrunner features, respectively. It was the second straight week that Tim Jr. won the roadrunner feature. Tim Sr. leads the sportsman modified point standings while Tim Jr. is third in the points in the roadrunner division.
