MILTON — Blake Spangler-Jones may have out-dueled Austin Schott in the game, but the Lions still prevailed in the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association game.
Schott scored 20 points to lead Meadowbrook Christian (9-5, 5-1 ACAA). Dakota Pickett added 14 points for the Lions.
Spangler-Jones led Sunbury Christian (10-6, 6-2) with 27 points.
Central Columbia 37, Milton 28
MILTON — With the Black Panthers desperately needing a win to qualify for the District 4 duals, the Blue Jays stymied their opponents and took the HAC cross-over win behind a couple of late pins and a 13-4 major decision by Lewis Williams in the final bout at 126 pounds.
Milton (6-7), which got a 12-3 major decision from Zack Bennett at 145 to represent its best result of the night, needs to beat Warrior Run at home today in order to qualify for the district tournament that begins next week.
Warrior Run 40, Benton 33
TURBOTVILLE — The Defenders picked up a huge HAC-II win over the Tigers with help from William George’s pin at 170 pounds in the next-to-last bout of the night. Wes Cupp (220) added a pin for Warrior Run.
New Oxford Tournament
NEW OXFORD — Line Mountain and Southern Columbia have a combined seven wrestlers still alive for a championship as the first day of the tournament wrapped up on Friday.
For Line Mountain, Collin Klinger (106), Brendan Renn (167), Rayce Boyer (195) and Garrett Kieffer (285) have advanced into the championship semifinals.
Southern’s wrestlers who advanced to today’s semis are Shane Casey (106), Brett Shepard (126) and Todd Lane (120).
