MANDATA -- After a low-scoring first quarter, Line Mountain exploded for 23 points in the second quarter before the Eagles had to hold on for a 60-57 first-round victory over Millville in the Line Mountain Tip-Off Tournament on Friday.

Jade London tallied 16 points and had six steals and four assists while Sarah Lahr scored 15 points for Line Mountain (1-0), which also got nine points and 12 rebounds from Colleen Troutman.

Lourdes Tip-Off Tournament

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Rachel Schultz scored 19 points and had a team-high five steals while Sarah Getchey added 14 points as the Red Raiders cruised to the non-league win.

Lourdes shutout Meadowbrook in the first quarter and led by 40 points at the half.

Mifflin Co. Tournament

LEWISTOWN -- The Tigers connected on 20 of 27 free throws to hold off the Black Panthers for the opening-round victory.

Carly Burns scored 14 points and Victoria Varner scored 12 for East Juniata (1-0), which scored eight of its 10 fourth-quarter points from the free throw line.

Emily Baker scored 10 points to lead Milton, which plays host Mifflin County in the consolation game at 6 p.m.

CMVT Tip-Off Tournament

BLOOMSBURG -- The Bulldogs outscored the Warriors 24-4 in the second quarter to run away for the opening-round win.

Alyssa Wesner scored 14 points and Terahlee Hayner added nine for Northumberland Christian (3-2). The Warriors will play the loser of the game between Vo-Tech and Freeland MMI today at 6.

MILLERSTOWN -- The Wildcats couldn't keep up with the Mustangs as they fell in the opening-round game. Hattie Kuhns scorednine points to lead Greenwood (0-1).

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Abby Daddario's near triple-double propelled the Eagles to the non-league win.

Daddario scored 16 points, and she also had 12 steals and seven assists for Sunbury Christian (3-0), which also got a game-high 25 points from Tori Erdman.


Mifflinburg Tip-Off Tournament

MIFFLINBURG -- It wasn't the prettiest score, but the Wildcats still got the job done by holding off the Mustangs in a first-round game.

"It was a good solid defensive effort on our part. In the first half we moved the ball well and had some open looks," said Mifflinburg coach Andre' Roupp.

Braden Lee paced Mifflinburg with seven points and Jeremy Uscowskas had six for the Wildcats, who will play Shamokin in today's final at 7:30 p.m.

MIFFLINBURG -- Kevin Carsto tallied 22 points and Josh Pappas had 13 for the Indians in the Mifflinburg Tournament first-round game.

East Juniata Tip-Off Tournament

COCOLAMUS -- The Tigers jumped out to a 36-22 halftime lead en route to an opening-round win of their own tip-off tournament.

Nick Lorenz scored 22 points and David Brantley chipped in 14 for East Juniata (1-0), which plays Line Mountain in the final tonight at 7:30.

MANDATA -- Cole Rickert, Bill Breinich and Coltin Hunsberger all scored in double figures for the Eagles in their first-round victory.

Rickert led the way with 21 points, eight rebounds and seven steals for Line Mountain (1-0).

Boiling Springs Tip-Off Tournament

BOILING SPRINGS -- The Wildcats tried to make-up for a slow start, but their second half comeback fell short in the tip-off tournament's first-round game.

Greenwood (0-1), which trailed 25-15 at the half, got 20 points from Tyler Fegley and 16 points from Josh Ferguson.

Greenwood will play Susquehannock in the consolation game at 6 p.m.

COAL TOWNSHIP -- A game-high 33 points from Zack Oquendo and 20 points from Anthony Pennypacker propelled the Red Raiders to an opening-round win.

Oquendo added 10 rebounds and five steals, while Pennypacker had eight rebounds and Michael Menapace chipped in 10 assists and five steals for Lourdes (1-0).

Tyler Baughman scored 17 points for Meadowbrook (0-1).

Lourdes plays New Hope in the championship game at 7:30, while Meadowbrook plays Tri-Valley in the consolation game at 6.

Non-tournament games

Danville 46, Pottsville 45

DANVILLE -- The Ironmen held on late to hold off the Crimson Tide in their season-opening win to start the year off on the right foot.

Bret Berg led Danville with 14 points while Scott Heeder scored eight, including two 3-pointers. Zach Kozick had 10 points for the Ironmen.

ALMEDIA -- A game-high 17 points from Taylor Mantz lifted the Braves to the non-league win over the Blue Jays. Ernie Tyler added 13 points for Shikellamy (1-0).

n Midd-West 70,

Montgomery 44

MIDDLEBURG -- Taylor Booker scored a team-high 17 points, Dillon Prough added 14 and both Elijah Stem and Colton Keister scored 11 to lead the Mustangs past the Red Raiders in their first game of the season.

Montgomery led briefly, 11-10, after the first quarter before Midd-West used a 23-9 second quarter to distance itself for good. Booker made four 3-pointers in the win.

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Despite the efforts of Blake Spangler-Jones, Jed Stuck and Jackson Snyder, the Eagles fell in the non-league contest.

Spangler-Jones scored 16 points, while Stuck and Jackson added 12 points apiece for Sunbury Christian (2-4).

BELLEVILLE -- With the game tied at 23 after three quarters of play, the Trojans scored 16 points in the final period to take the non-league win.

Ryan King and Daniel Severn paced Northumberland Christian (1-3) with eight and seven points, respectively.
