WILLIAMSPORT -- To say that Lewisburg players and coaches were disappointed after their game against Athens on Tuesday afternoon at Kenneth Robbins Stadium would be more than an understatement.

The Green Dragons completely dominated the Lady Wildcats in just about every aspect of the game but, unfortunately for Lewisburg, it was Athens which aced the one aspect of the game that mattered most: the score.

With only 3:50 remaining in the game, Athens' Hannah Klingerman fired a great shot from about 30 yards out that bounced right over Lewisburg goalie Kirsten Blakeslee's head and took one bounce into the net for the only goal of the game.

The top-seeded Wildcats left Loyalsock with the 1-0 victory against No. 8 Lewisburg in the District 4 Class AA quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals on Saturday against Warrior Run at a time/site to be determined.

"We didn't strike the ball with authority in goal. It's been all year these letdowns," Lewisburg coach Jose Vega said. "It's one game after another. We have the talent, they have everything they need, I don't know what it is. … When we do great, we look fantastic. It's been 1-0 (games) all year. We can't score goals."

Klingerman's goal was only possible because she was aware of Blakeslee's position. The Green Dragons' keeper came out of the goal just enough for Klingerman to take advantage, as she sent a high ball that sailed right over Blakeslee's head.

"As soon as she got the ball, she was looking for that. She knew the goalkeeper was out. (She's a) very smart player. She looked for that opening," Vega said. "She got the ball, she didn't even look at the goal. She knew from up there about 30 yards out, stuck the ball over the keeper."
