MIDDLEBURG -- Northumberland's C.J. Tyler continued where he left off last year by firing a one-under-par 71 Monday at the Shade Mountain Golf Course, good for a three-stroke margin of victory over Danville's Austin Renz in the first North Central PA Golf Association Junior Tour event of the summer.
Winfield's Justin Geedy shot a 78 and Jeremy Pannebaker of Thonpsontown shot a 79 to round out the only scores to break 80 in the boys 16-18 year-old age division.
Boalsburg's Brady Bonfilio shot a 78 in the boys 13-15 year-old division. Williamsport's William Knauth was a distant second with an 85.
In the boys 10-12 year-old age group, it was Boalsburg's Jack Mangene with a nine hole score of 49 that led the way. Williamsport's Derek Lewis was second at 56.
State College's Maxwell Wagner and Trey Marion of Virginia each posted a four hole score of 21 to pace the boys 5-9 year-old division.
Williamsport's Taylor Kraut shot an 81 and Raven Fatool shot a 95 in the girls 15-18 year-old division. Bloomsburg's Morgan Sohosky shot 48 in the girls 11-14 year old division Lisa Lewis of Williamsport shot a four hole score of 28 tin the girls 5-10 year old group.
It was the first event on the nine-tournament summer junior tour. Forty-six junior golfers participated in the event. Last week's opening event at Turbot Hills in Milton was postponed due to heavy rains and a new date has not yet been determined. The next stop on the NCPGA Junior Tour will be on Monday, June 24th at Mill Race Golf Club in Benton.
