CATAWISSA -- The Selinsgrove American Legion team broke out the sticks and pounded out 18 hits to beat Catawissa, 13-6, in a Susquehanna Valley League game on Friday.
Tyler Cook led the onslaught with a 4-for-4 day that included a double, three runs scored and three RBIs. Isaiah Rapp, Colton Brouse and Kyle Pannebaker all added three hits apiece in the win for Selinsgrove (4-4).
Cook, Rapp, Brouse and Pannebaker all had a hand in Selinsgrove scoring seven runs in the sixth inning, giving the team a commanding eight-run lead. Rapp, Brouse and Pannebaker all had RBI doubles in the frame.
Ryan Wagner got the complete-game win for Selinsgrove, and he also helped his cause by singling and scoring a run in the seventh.
n Hughesville 3,
HUGHESVILLE -- A two-run double in the third inning by Brett Reitz broke a 1-all tie to help give Hughesville the West Branch League win.
Hughesville (4-2) also scored in the first by taking advantage of a messy inning by Montoursville.
A hit-batsman, and error and a wild pitch led to the team's first run.
On the mound, Jeff Scott went the distance in the win. He threw 87 pitches and allowed no walks and struck out two.
It was much-needed win after Hughesville was beaten by Milton, 13-3, on Thursday.
"After (Thursday's) ball game we had a little bit of a letdown, but the boys came back (Friday) and we played a good ball game against a tough Montoursville team," said Hughesville manager Gary Gordner. "We're right back in the saddle."
Hughesville, which is in the midst of playing one game a day, every day, plays Montgomery today and isn't off again until Friday.

BLOOMSBURG -- Brady Michael hit a two-run double in the sixth inning as Line Mountain pulled out the Susquehanna Valley League win.
Michael's double came in a messy inning for Bloomsburg (4-2), which issued a pair of walks and committed an error.
Brady Renn and J.P. Lenker both added 2-for-4 days for Line Mountain.
