Little League roundup: Danville Majors extend baseball season

By The Daily Item

DANVILLE -- It's extra baseball time for the Danville Major Division All-Star team.

An extra game will be Danville's reward after the team defeated North Columbia, 11-8, in the District 13 Area I championship round Tuesday at Washies Field.

Danville, which won its way out of the elimination bracket, needs to beat North Columbia once more in order to claim the area title. Game two is Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

"It feels very good (to play North Columbia again). In the first game (a 9-4 loss) our bats were quiet," said Danville manager Brandon Koser. "After that game we worked hard on our hitting and our fielding, and that's what we needed to do to have a chance to win. It worked out pretty well, and it's good for the kids.

"We call (Thursday's game) extra baseball."

Danville got two hits from Colton Sidler, including a three-run first-inning home run, plus a two-hit day by Graden Feldmann that included a solo homer in the third.

North Columbia got a solo homer from Austin Heeter in the first inning, and a solo homer in the sixth from pitcher Matt Mumaw.

n Selinsgrove 10,

Berwick 0 (5 innings)

SELINSGROVE -- Powered by the arm and bat of Teague Hoover, Selinsgrove routed Berwick in a 9-10 Division winners' bracket game at East Snyder Park.

Hoover went 3-for-3, with his three hits going for a double and two triples. He also drove in three runs in the game.

On the mound, Hoover threw a complete-game one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk allowed.

Brandon Hile, Joey Hoover and Ryan Brankovitch all had two hits as Selinsgrove pounded out a total of 12 hits in the game.

"It was a great team effort. The kids played well and they scored in every inning," said Selinsgrove manager Cheri Swineford.
