Softball roundup: Loyalsock downs Warrior Run in opener

TURBOTVILLE — Loyalsock plated two runs in each of the second, third and fourth innings to edge Warrior Run 7-4 in a Heartland-II season-opening matchup Tuesday.

Warrior Run (0-1) was limited to just two runs through six innings before plating two more in the seventh to make the contest close.

Maddie Beyer had three hits and Carra Rishel added a pair to lead Warrior Run at the plate.

Kayla Gee got the complete-game win for Loyalsock (1-0). She struck out seven batters and scattered nine hits.

Mifflinburg 15,

Selinsgrove 1 (5 inn.)

SELINSGROVE — The Wildcats pounded out 14 hits to rout the Seals in the HAC-I contest.

McKenzie Noll and Sara Stauffer both went 3-for-3 to lead Mifflinburg (1-0), which scored five runs in both the second and fourth innings. Stauffer had a pair of triples and five RBIs on the day, while Kayla Kline had two hits, including a home run and four RBIs.

Defensively for the Wildcats, Hannah Boop got the complete-game win with five strikeouts, six walks and just one walk given up.

Sydney Reibschied had the lone hit for Selinsgrove (0-1).

Hughesville 16,

Lewisburg 0 (3 innings)

LEWISBURG — A five-RBI day by Justine Yeager included a three-run home run as the Spartans cruised to the HAC-II win over the Green Dragons.

Page Ramin also held Lewisburg (0-1) to a single hit — a single by Rachel Herman.

Hughesville is 1-0.
