MCA boys earn playoff bid

MIFFLINBURG — With the start of the District 4 tournament just days away, the boys Class AA bracket was still incomplete pending the result of Mount Carmel’s final regular-season game against Mifflinburg on Monday.

Mount Carmel needed a win to punch its ticket into the postseason, and behind a game-high 20 points from Zack Tocyloski, the Red Tornadoes grabbed that final spot with a 61-43 HAC crossover victory over Mifflinburg.

Mount Carmel (11-11) becomes the No. 9 seed in Class AA, and the Red Tornadoes will hit the road to face No. 8 Southern Columbia on Wednesday at 7.

In addition to Tocyloski’s 20 points, Mount Carmel got 15 points from Ben Scicchitano and 11 from Christian Kelley as the Red Tornadoes outscored Mifflinburg 34-22 in the second half to pull away.

Jordan Wagner tallied 10 points for Mifflinburg, which wraps up its season with a 9-13 record.
