DANVILLE -- When it comes to Danville and Selinsgrove playing each other, whether it's on the football field or the lacrosse field, you can expect a physical game.

That's what fans got Tuesday at the Hess Field as the teams combined for 24 goals -- nine in the third quarter -- and 17 minutes in penalties.

All in a day's work for the sport called "the fastest game on two feet."

The visiting Seals won 17-7 as they withstood a five-goal rally by Danville in the third quarter. Danville beat Selinsgrove 10-9 on a late fourth-quarter score on April 3.

Seals senior Ben Youngman fired a shot from to the high side of Danville goalie Evan Tanner to break a 1-all tie with 3:05 left in the first quarter which gave Selinsgrove (6-4), its first lead of the game. It was part of a seven-goal run in the first half as Selinsgrove led 7-1 midway through the second quarter.

"Usually our games our rough against each other," Youngman said of the matchup. "We're building our team back up and we are better than we were at the start of the season."

Youngman led all scorers with six goals, while Andrew Sickle and Branden Sheaffer added four goals apiece for the Seals.

"I think our team chemistry is coming together. We got two players back from injury in Andrew (Sickle) and Austin Stroup (goal, three assists)," Youngman added. "The teamwork is coming back."

Danville sophomore Brett Vanden Huevel stopped the Seals' seven-goal run with his lone goal of the game at the 6:17 mark of the second quarter as the Seals led 10-2 at halftime.

The Ironmen scored five of the first six goals in the third quarter, cutting the Seals lead to 12-7 with 6:26 to play.

"We just took too long to get rolling," Danville coach Matt Gerdy said. "At times, we clicked and looked real well, but we came out flat."
