High school roundup: Mifflinburg rallies past Shikellamy

BASEBALL

MIFFLINBURG -- Andy Aurand hit a game-tying double in the seventh inning, and Devin Hendrix drove in Brian Zimmerman with the game-winner in the ninth for Mifflinburg in a 9-8 Heartland-I victory over Shikellamy.

Brady Lloyd and Trey Smith each had a pair of hits for the Wildcats (8-11).

Colby Lahr, who hit an inside-the-park home run, and Jordan Garinger each had three knocks for Shikellamy (10-8, 8-5 HAC-I), which hosts Selinsgrove today in the consolation game of its tournament that began last month, but was cut short due to rain.

ELIZABETHVILLE -- Mac Ney drove in a run and scored on an error as part of Upper Dauphin's three-run sixth inning which broke a tie and lifted the Trojans to a victory and the Tri-Valley League championship.

The Trojans won the league title for the fourth time in five seasons, and claimed it outright for the second time in three.

Casey Wise had a pair of hits for the winners, and Kyle Glouner added an RBI double for Upper Dauphin (17-3, 15-1 TVL).

MILLERSBURG -- The Indians ended the regular season on a high note by holding off the Wildcats for the TVL win.

Connor Keim led Millersburg (10-9, 10-6 TVL) by going 2-for-3 and hitting a double, triple and driving in a run for the Indians, who are bound for the District 3 playoffs next week.

n East Juniata 14,

Greenwood 4 (5 inn.)

COCOLAMUS -- Bailey Coder went 3-for-3 and had a solo home run in the fourth inning and three runs scored in the Tigers' TVL win over the Wildcats.

East Juniata (13-4, 10-4 TVL) pounded out 14 hits in the win, with Jeremy Panebaker adding a 2-for-3 day with two RBIs for the Tigers.

n Warrior Run 8,

Shikellamy 1

SUNBURY -- Maddie Beyer and Lisa Waldman had three hits apiece to lead the Defenders past the Braves for the HAC cross-over victory.

Waldman doubled as part of her day for Warrior Run (5-12), which scored five runs in the fifth to take command of the ballgame.

Shikellamy (1-10) was held to a couple of hits by Warrior Run pitcher Mikayla Griner -- a single from both Katelyn Harmon and Katelyn Coppin.

n Montoursville 9,

Selinsgrove 0

MONTOURSVILLE -- The Warriors assured themselves a spot in the District 4 playoffs by routing the Seals in the HAC cross-over matchup.

Jordan Wilt and Sara Reibschied had two hits apiece to lead Selinsgrove (5-12).

Montoursville improves to 10-8.

n Millersburg 3,

Halifax 0

HALIFAX -- The Wildcats couldn't solve Marlo Roadcap, who went all seven innings to get the shutout for the Indians in the Tri-Valley League contest.

Roadcap finished with a two-hitter with nine strikeouts for Millersburg (12-4, 11-2 TVL), and she also singled, drew two walks and had an RBI in the win.

Halifax falls to 9-4 in league play.

Lourdes Reg. 3 (5 inn.)

MOUNT CARMEL -- A nine-run fourth inning prevented any kind of comeback attempt for the Red Raiders versus the Bulldogs in the Schuylkill League matchup.

Peyton Klembara, who pitched a complete game in the losing effort for Lourdes, also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
