DANVILLE -- It wasn't nearly as lopsided as the first meeting between the two teams, and Danville needed to score six runs in the seventh to take the District 13 title at Washies Field.
Matt Schiffino led Danville by collecting five hits, including a double. Danville had a total of 13 hits in the game. Schiffino's double kick-started a four-run sixth.
Ty Nicholas hit a three-run home run in the second inning for Warrior Run, and Tristan Bittler had two hits and two stolen bases in the loss.
"It was a hard-fought game until the sixth. Both sides played well, but we just couldn't overcome our errors," said Warrior Run manager Chris Litchard.
"It was a very good game. It was close for a while, but then we blew it open in the seventh," said Danville manager Jim Pursel.
Danville now heads to the Section 3 Tournament that begins next Wednesday. District 15 (Tunkhannock) is the host district.
