SELINSGROVE -- Two weeks after torrential rain washed out the first meeting between the two teams, the Seals beat Mother Nature to the punch the second time around to edge the Bulldogs for the HAC-I victory on Wednesday.
Selinsgrove (5-5, 5-2 HAC-I) got the win following a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles by Laura Long and Savannah Foor.
Rain halted the No. 2 doubles match where Olivia Fravel and Jess Kerstetter were leading, 7-5, 1-0, over their Jersey Shore rivals.
Also winning for Selinsgrove, which moved ahead of Jersey Shore (4-3 HAC-I) for third place in the division, were Liza Smith at No. 2 singles and Brittney Aucker at No. 3.

SELINSGROVE -- Mother Nature picked the right time to shut down the Heartland-I soccer match between Selinsgrove and Montoursville.
The Seals needed an early goal by sophomore Lexie Willard to stand up for only 30-plus minutes to take a 1-0 victory over the Warriors in a game that was halted by rain at halftime.
Willard scored the lone goal with an assist by Nicole Krebs just 6 minutes, 49 seconds into the game, handing Montoursville its first loss of the season.
"It was good to score early. We knew the weather could be a factor. It was, and it ended up paying off," said Selinsgrove coach Matt Metzger.
Senior keeper Jess Lawton made nine saves to preserve the shutout for Selinsgrove (5-0-1, 2-0-1 HAC-I), despite Montoursville (4-1, 2-1) out-shooting the Seals, 10-5.
