SELINSGROVE -- Selinsgrove Speedway will present the first championship race of the season for the late models on Saturday at 7. Joining the late models on the racing card will be the 358 sprint cars, pro stocks and roadrunners.
The late model feature will pay $2,500 to win.
Last year's special events winners for the late models were Coleby Frye of Dover (June 9 championship), Nick Dickson of Lewistown (Aug. 4 Open) and Rick Eckert of York (Oct. 6 Fall Classic).
Two weeks ago, Jerry Bard of Shippensburg became the third different late model winner in as many races at the track. Bard joins Dylan Yoder, of Selinsgrove, and Frye on the early-season win list. Defending champion Jeff Rine, of Danville, is seeking his first win of the season at Selinsgrove and holds a 25-point lead over Yoder in the point standings.
