SUNBURY -- It was a tall order for sure, having to beat three district qualifiers in four days to make the playoffs.

Shikellamy had reason to believe it could be done, though, after completing a season sweep of HAC-I runner-up Montoursville on Tuesday.

It took only four innings of Thursday's game with Jersey Shore to snuff out the Braves' postseason hopes.

The defending HAC-I champion Bulldogs scored eight runs in the second inning and six more in the third en route to a 15-0 win at Shikellamy.

Jersey Shore batted thrice through its order before the Braves' eight- and nine-hole hitters took their first cuts. The Bulldogs (14-3, 13-1 HAC-I) rapped 14 hits, scored 15 times and stranded eight runners while clinching another HAC-I crown.

The Braves (8-11, 5-8), who were responsible for two of Montoursville's four losses, had to finish .500 or better to make the District 4 Class AAA playoff field. They finish the season today at Midd-West.

After Ryan Kenney threw eight pitches in a 1-2-3 first, Logan Hall led off the bottom of the inning with a bunt single. The next two batters bounced into force outs at second base, and the inning ended with a runner thrown out at the plate.

Bulldogs starter Travis Eiswerth gave up a leadoff hit to Jean Turber in the second, but Shore followed it with the first of its two double plays. Eiswerth, who had three hits, finished the two-hitter for his sixth win of the season.

Jersey Shore will be the top seed for the upcoming District 4 Class AAA playoffs.
