Bowey adjusting to racing U.S. tracks

SELINSGROVE — Unlike the conventional route of starting out in go-karts and working up to sprint cars, Luke Bowey of Adelaide, South Australia, started racing on two wheels.

“I started racing motocross when I was 13 and I raced them for five years and I had a couple of bad injuries,” he said. “At the time, my father was racing micro sprints and he kind of stopped doing that and offered me the ride. I raced the micros for five years before we moved into the sprint cars. We’re still learning the sprint car and we’re hoping for a change of luck.”

Bowey, 28, who calls Speedway City, in Adelaide, his home track, is in the States racing for the second year in a row.
