QUEENS, N.Y. -- Bucknell took a 3-point lead into the half, but it wouldn't hold on as the Bison lost their second game of the season to St. John's to drop to .500 on the year with the 67-63 loss.

Bucknell (2-2) led 35-32 at the half.

But it was a 35-point second half by the Red Storm (2-1) that would prove to be the difference, as St. John's held Bucknell to 28 second-half points.

The Red Storm were led by Phil Greene's 16 points while D'Angelo Harrison added 12 and JaKarr Sampson scored 11.

Cam Ayers led the game with a team-high 25 points for the Bison -- sinking a team-high three treys -- while Brian Fitzpatrick scored 12.

The Bison out-rebounded St. John's in the loss, 35-32, as Dom Hoffman grabbed down eight boards for the Bison and Steven Kaspar added six.

Three different Red Storm players had six rebounds in Sampson, Chris Obekpa and Sir'Dominic Pointer.

The second half went back and forth with lead changes until Brian Fitzpatrick hit a jumper to put Bucknell up by three, 51-48, with 10 minutes to play. Chris Obekpa would follow it up 15 seconds later with a dunk to cut the deficit to one.

St. John's took the lead for good after that when Ryan Frazier missed a 3-pointer and Orlando Sanchez grabbed the board. Phil Greene then sank a jumper with 8:56 to play to make it a 52-51 game and the Bison never regained the lead.

The Red Storm would lead by as many as eight in the second half when Sampson would sink a jumper with 5:01 to play to lead, 59-51.

During that span, St. John's went on an 11-0 run against Bucknell.

The Bison would cut the deficit to just four, 63-59, with 37 seconds left in the game when Dom Hoffman scored off a layup, but that would be the last Bucknell basket until 12 seconds when Hoffman scored on a tip-in to make it a 66-61 game.

Bucknell would get 11 points from its bench in the loss.
