DANVILLE -- One game is all Bryson Cromley started on the mound for the Danville American Legion team this season.

However with Mason Fausnaught working and some other Danville pitchers suffering with some minor maladies, the young lefty got the nod on the rubber on Tuesday night in the opening game of the Susquehanna Valley American Legion Tournament against Selinsgrove.

Cromley didn't disappoint, scattering four hits and allowing an earned run, while his teammates backed him up with 12-hit attack in an 11-1 six-inning victory over Selinsgrove.

I pitched one game (this season)," Cromley said. "I was a little nervous. I didn't know I was pitching until warm-ups. We played (Monday) and they didn't say anything. They just came over earlier today and said, you're pitching."

"He pitched one other game for us and did a good job. Mason wasn't here, he had to work, I was going throw him," Albertson said. "Some of other guys are sore, so we're down a couple of arms right now. (Cromley) did a great job, I couldn't have asked for more."

Cromley got half of his 18 outs by ground outs, while striking out three and walking three. He allowed just one earned run in the third inning and after a double play in the fourth retired nine of the final 10 batters he faced.

Danville improves to 11-6 and will host the Sunbury/Northumberland-Shamokin/Mount Carmel winner today at 5:30 p.m. Selinsgrove (7-10) will play the loser at 5:30 p.m.

Danville's offense was just as impressive. As Shayne Riley, Scott Heeter and Cody Keefer — No. 2, 3 and 4 in the Danville order, respectively — combined for seven hits, four runs and seven runs batted in on the day.

"We hit the ball today. We've hit the ball the last couple of games," Albertson said. "We lost at West Snyder (Monday night), but I bet we hit eight line drives right into gloves. We've been having good at bats."
