SELINSGROVE -- Selinsgrove Speedway will present the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoO LMS) as they sanction the 15th annual Late Model National Open on Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1.

The winner of Saturday night's 40-lap preliminary feature will collect $8,000. Sunday's winner of the 50 lap National Open will win $10,000.

Each night of racing will include time trials, qualifying races and feature events.

Tickets go on sale today in the track office and are only available there on race days. Tickets can also be purchased by credit card at 570-374-2999.

The entire covered grandstand will be reserved both nights and season reserved seats will be honored for reserved seat ticketholders.

The speedway's pro stock and roadrunner divisions will join the late models on Saturday and the limited late models will share the racing card on Sunday.

The 2013 edition of the Late Model Open marks the first time the race will carry a sanction by the WoO LMS. Last year's first-ever WoO LMS race at Selinsgrove was rained out.

Chris Shuey of Orefield won the inaugural Late Model Open in 1999 followed by a win in the 2001 race. Jeff Rine, of Danville, the track's current points leader and eight-time champion, is the only four-time winner of the race, having won in 2005, '06, '08, and '09. Nick Dickson of Lewistown is the defending winner of the race and the only other driver to have won it more than once ('07).

Other past winners of the Late Model Open include Kenny Pettyjohn of Millsboro, Del. (2000); Dale Kerstetter of Liverpool ('02); Jeff Smith of Blain ('03); Scott Haus of Hamburg ('04); Dan Stone of Thompson ('10); and Rick Eckert of York ('11).

Selinsgrove Speedway is one of 40 different tracks the WoO LMS will visit in 2013.

This Saturday, the speedway will present a four-division show featuring 358 sprint cars, pro stocks and the roadrunners. The late models will have a 30-lap summer championship paying $2,000 to win.
