WINTER HAVEN, Fla. —
Bucknell finished the 2014 Rebel Spring Games with a pair of wins over St. Peter’s and Siena to finish with five wins at the spring break tournament.
Bucknell affected St. Peter’s both at the plate and in the circle for a 6-0 win, with the Bison scoring two runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Bucknell (7-12) added three runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead before Dana Neilsen struck out the side in the bottom of the inning.
Neilsen pitched a complete game for the Bison, allowing three hits while striking out 12.
Cydnee Sanders helped to seal the victory for the Bison with an RBI single in the sixth inning to give the Bison a 6-0 lead. Sanders finished 4-for-7 between the two games, scoring three times.
Bucknell started fast against Siena in a 2-0 win, scoring both of its run in the bottom of the first inning.
The Bison hustled for both of their runs, with Jacklyn Tyburk reaching on a fielder’s choice that brought Mallory Lyons home to score. Sanders scored on a wild pitch for the second run.
After the first inning, neither team was able to push a run across.
Cheyanna Young and Cindy Cherness combined for the win, with Young scattering two hits over three innings of work and Cherness finishing the shutout with four innings in the circle to take the win. Cherness improved to 1-1 with the victory.
