H.S. baseball: East Juniata's Lorenz named Co-MVP in TVL

Nick Lorenz and Mac Ney both found themselves ranked among the Tri-Valley League’s best in several offensive categories, so it was only fair that the two players shared Co-Most Valuable Player honors as the TVL’s head coaches selected their 2014 All-Star team.

Lorenz, a senior shortstop/pitcher from East Juniata, led the league in RBIs (27) and he was fourth in runs scored (20), seventh in batting average (.432), ninth in hits (19) and also led the TVL in home runs with four.

Ney, also a senior shortstop/pitcher from Upper Dauphin, led the TVL in runs scored (29) and he was third in RBIs (23) and 13th in hits (19).

Lorenz and Ney were joined on the first team by fellow Trojans Tanner Miller and Kyle Glouner, plus Line Mountain’s JP Lenker and Kellan Masser, Halifax’s Trey Pritchard, Millersburg’s Connor Keim and Lancaster Country Day’s Sy Williams.

Lenker, a junior catcher, also ranked high in several offensive categories for the Eagles. He was first in hits (26), first in total bases (49), tied for first in triples (4), second in batting average (.481), sixth in RBIs (17) and eighth in runs scored (19).

Upper Dauphin’s Ryan Lentz was named the Coach of the Year after he led the Trojans to a 15-1 record and the league title in his fourth year. The team finished second in the league a year ago with a 13-3 record.
