Roundup: Selinsgrove Juniors win elimination game

Danville 9-10's stay live with shutout


DANVILLE — Needing a win to stay alive, Selinsgrove found strong pitching and offense in a 10-0 win over Shik-Acorn in a Junior Division elimination game at Washies Field on Saturday.

Noah Hendricks and Jarrett Inch combined to throw the shutout for Selinsgrove, needing just 89 pitches between the two hurlers to finish seven innings. With the win, Selinsgrove will return to Washies Field to take on Danville on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Kody Showers led the way offensively for Selinsgrove with a 4-for-4 day at the plate with two doubles. Logan Leiby added a 3-for-4 game with a double for Selinsgrove.

Danville 14, Shik-Acorn 0

SELINSGROVE — Daniel Knight and Carson Persing held Shik-Acorn to one hit, and Danville’s offense came through in a 9-10 Division elimination bracket game at East Snyder Park on Saturday.

Persing helped his cause with a triple, while Carter Kozick and Wade Sassaman each had two hits to help Danville avoid elimination.


Sunbury/Norry 13, Selinsgrove 3

SELINSGROVE — Sunbury/Norry was holding a slim lead heading into the fourth inning but the bats broke out in the fourth and fifth.

With six runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth, Sunbury/Norry beat Selinsgrove in five innings in a Susquehanna Valley League game.

Jordan Garinger drove in four runs as part of a 2-for-3 day, and Kobe Swanger added two hits and two RBIs for Sunbury/Norry. Kyle Leitzel pitched a complete game for Sunbury/Norry with four strikeouts.

Jake Nylund led Selinsgrove with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, including a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
