High school roundup: Defenders unbeaten season ends

-- — WILLIAMSPORT -- The unbeaten season for the Warrior Run softball team is over, but at least now the Defenders have tasted defeat and gotten it out of the way.

Loyalsock only had two hits in the game, but the Lancers took advantage of five Warrior Run errors to take a 5-2 Heartland-II victory Tuesday.

Warrior Run (8-1, 6-1 HAC) was held to just three hits on the day, including a triple from pitcher Tay Parker, who went the distance in the loss.

Shikellamy 4, Midd-West 3

SUNBURY -- After the Mustangs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Braves came back with a pair of runs in the third and fifth innings to ultimately take the HAC-I win.

Taylor Lauver hit an RBI single in the fifth to plate the go-ahead run for Shikellamy. Both runs Midd-West (0-10, 0-9 HAC) gave up in the inning were unearned.

Jersey Shore 5, Danville 3

DANVILLE -- The Bulldogs jumped on the Ironmen early with a solo homer from Holly Peacock in the first inning and a pair of unearned runs in the second to take the HAC-I win. Zina Knight led Danville with a 3-for-4 day.

Mifflinburg 10, Selinsgrove 0 (5 inn.)

SELINSGROVE -- Ally Lloyd threw a no-hitter and she also drove in two runs on a pair of doubles in the HAC-I win for the Wildcats. Mifflinburg improves to 7-1, 7-0 in league play. Selinsgrove falls to 4-3, 3-3.

Milton 16, Shamokin 6 (6 inn.)

MILTON -- The sixes ruled for the Black Panthers after Taylor Batman's three-run home run in the sixth inning propelled the hosts to the HAC-I win.

Mackenna Miller led Milton by going 4-for-4 with two doubles, plus Linea Brouse added a two-run homer in the third for Milton (6-1 overall and HAC).

Lourdes Regional 17, Lincoln Lead. Acad. 0

MOUNT CARMEL -- Behind a grand slam from Emily Long and a solo homer from Charlee Rosini, the Red Raiders (3-3 overall) scored 12 runs in the first inning.

Greenwood 3, Newport 2

MILLERSTOWN -- A two-run double by Rachel Stroup and an RBI double by Chelsea Hicks both came in the fourth as the Wildcats took the Tri-Valley League win. Greenwood is 2-2.

Hughesville 4, Lewisburg 1

LEWISBURG -- It was by far the closest game of the year for the Green Dragons, but the HAC-II game ended as the Spartans got out of a bases-loaded jams in the seventh inning. Lewisburg had one hit, a single by Alexis Neuer.


Jersey Shore 8, Selinsgrove 7

SELINSGROVE -- The Seals' late-game comeback fell short as the Bulldogs held on for the HAC-I win.

Mifflinburg 4, Milton 1

MILTON -- The Wildcats ruined a good outing by Black Panthers pitcher Mark Artley by taking the HAC-I victory.

Artley pitched a complete game and also had two hits for Milton (3-3 overall and HAC).

Mifflinburg's Devin Hendrix doubled and homered.

Mount Carmel 3, Lewisburg 1

LEWISBURG -- Michael Fisher had a 2-for-4 day that included a double and an RBI, but the Green Dragons fell in the HAC-II game.

Hughesville 11, Warrior Run 2

TURBOTVILLE -- The Spartans scored three runs in each of the final three innings of the game to take the HAC-II win. Sean Morehart doubled for Warrior Run (2-6, 1-6 HAC).

Newport 20, Greenwood 10 (5 inn.)

NEWPORT -- The Buffaloes scored 15 runs in the fifth inning, 14 unearned, to take the TVL win. The Wildcats fell to 0-7.


Shikellamy 96, Mifflinburg 54

SUNBURY -- Four wins by Ryan Wary got the Braves back on track as they took the HAC-I victory. Wary won the 100-meter dash (11.34), plus the 200 (23.25), 300 hurdles (43.02) and ran a leg of the 400 relay. The Braves are 2-3, 2-2.

Danville 95, Central Columbia 55

DANVILLE -- Wins by Tyler Vella in the 800-meter run, the 1,600 and the 1,600 and 3,200 relays led Danville to the HAC-II win.

Warrior Run 118.5, Bloomsburg 29.5

TURBOTVILLE -- Elias George earned 15 of the 73.5 points the Defenders (3-0-1) collected on the track as they cruised to the HAC-II win. George claimed all three sprints.

Williamsport 104, Lewisburg 46

WILLIAMSPORT -- Brandon Smith claimed two of the Green Dragons' three wins, taking the 110H and javelin, but the Millionaires took the HAC-I win. Lewisburg is 2-2, 2-1 HAC-I.


Shikellamy 108, Mifflinburg 42

SUNBURY -- Treicy Cedeno captured three events (800m, 1,600R, 3,200R), while Haley Blackwell set a PR in the shot put as the Braves rolled. Blackwell threw 36-feet, 3/4-inch to win the shot. Bhe Braves are 4-1, 3-1 HAC-I).

Warrior Run 93, Bloomsburg 57

TURBOTVILLE -- Steph Shamburg won three events in the field (shot put, discus, javelin), while Olivia George claimed two events on the track (100/300 hurdles) to lead the Defenders to the HAC-II win. Also for Warrior Run (4-0), Alexa Randall tied the stadium record in the pole vault at 9-6.

Danville 81, Central Columbia 69

DANVILLE -- Mackenzie Jones and Shelby Freedman were both triple-event winners in the HAC-II meet for the Ironmen.

Williamsport 76, Lewisburg 74

WILLIAMSPORT -- Blake Baylor and Jenna Farmer won a pair of individual events on the track in the HAC-I loss.


Selinsgrove 4, Mifflinburg 1

MIFFLINBURG -- After suffering their first loss of the season, the Seals got back into the win column behind a pair of tough wins from their doubles teams.

Selinsgrove (8-1) got a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 1 doubles from Safwan Khan and Sam Bailey, plus a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 from Hareem Zain and Tyler Beaver. Landon Walter won in straight sets at No. 1 singles for Mifflinburg (3-7).


Lewisburg 15, Mifflinburg 5

LEWISBURG -- Nathan Fox recorded five goals and five assists while Matt Fedorjaka tallied six goals and four assists to lead the Green Dragons.


Danville 12, Mifflinburg 4

DANVILLE -- A four-goal day by Martina Plafcan and a five-point day from Emily Vella (3G, 2A) lifted the Ironmen to the CSLL win. Danville is 4-0.
