High school roundup: Shamokin's balance to much for Milton girls

Indians put three girls in double digits

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MILTON -- At the midway point of the season, both Milton and Shamokin have an eye towards the District 4 playoffs.

And even though the Black Panthers and the Indians have identical records, the two teams are at least momentarily heading in opposite directions.

Shamokin got a game-high 24 points from Liv Bonshock to down Milton, 53-33, in a Heartland-I matchup Friday.

Catie Pancher added 11 points, and Shaylee Pesarchick had 10 for Shamokin (7-7 overall).

Freshman Maggie Wetzel tallied 13 points for Milton (7-7), which lost its second game in a row.

n Lourdes Regional 58,

Williams Valley 34

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Freshman Carmella Bickel scored a career-high 23 points, while Bailey Trell and Rachel Schultz each added 15 in Lourdes' Schuylkill League win.

The Red Raiders (7-7) came to life in the second half, scoring 39 points -- 24 in the third quarter.

New Covenant 29

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Bailey King and Kyli Mahaffey both hit career-highs in points to lead the Warriors to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association victory.

King tallied 15 points and Mahaffey had 13, plus Jordan Carr pulled down 10 rebounds in the win for Northumberland Christian (11-4, 7-1 ACAA).

BOYS BASKETBALL

n Lewisburg 61,

Southern Columbia 34

LEWISBURG -- After their hiccup against Loyalsock earlier this week, the Green Dragons got back on track and routed the Tigers for a HAC-II victory.

Lewisburg (12-1, 6-1 HAC-II) got 20 points from Sam Allen, 13 from Matt Fedorjaka, and 12 from Will Sigl in the dominating performance.

Mike Klebon led Southern (6-6, 4-3) with 13 points.

n Danville 59,

Selinsgrove 39

SELINSGROVE -- The Ironmen climbed out to a big lead in the first half, and then slammed the door in the HAC-I matchup by out-scoring the Seals 15-4 in the final period.

Zack Kozick led Danville with 18 points. Phil Stemm added 17 points in the victory for the Ironmen (6-3 overall).

Isaiah Rapp scored 12 points, and Andy Ryan had 10 for Selinsgrove (1-11, 1-6 HAC-I).
