High school roundup: Danville surges past Mifflinburg

BOYS BASKETBALL

DANVILLE -- The stock of the Danville boys basketball team continues to rise in the latter parts of the season, especially after the Ironmen dismantled Mifflinburg for a 75-50 Heartland-I victory Thursday.

Austin Renz tallied 21 points, and Zack Kozick had 20 points to lead Danville (8-4, 5-1 HAC-I), which had four players in double figures. Phil Stemm chipped in 17 points, and Dan Seebold added 10.

James Zack led Mifflinburg (6-7, 2-6) with 23 points, and Clark Sheakley added 14 for the Wildcats.

n Warrior Run 61,

Benton 45

BENTON -- The Defenders put three players in double figures to cruise to the HAC cross-over victory.

Lance Pealer led Warrior Run (3-9) with 16 points, while Zach Miller and Jared Bender added 14 points apiece for the Defenders.

n Shamokin 65,

Jersey Shore 60

JERSEY SHORE -- After Zach Moyer scored all 20 of his game-high points through the first three quarters, the Indians needed to hold off the Bulldogs to take the HAC-I win.

Ryan Sebasovich helped Shamokin (13-2, 8-1 HAC-I) keep its lead by scoring eight of his 16 points in the final period. He also had four assists.

Cody Confair and Ryan Eck both had 16 points for Jersey Shore.

n Lourdes Regional 51,

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Larry Czeponis scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and three assists to help lead the Red Raiders to the non-league win.

Jordan Fobia added 17 points in the win for Lourdes (8-8). Gabe Bahner had 15 points for Northumberland Christian.

n Greenwood 56,

Juniata 38

MILLERSTOWN -- Seth Ferguson hit three 3-pointers among his game-high 13 points in Greenwood's Tri-Valley League win.

The Wildcats (13-3, 10-2 TVL) took control with a 32-17 run over the middle quarters.

"The whole game was a nice, steady effort by everybody," said Greenwood coach Kent Houser. "We avoided that one bad quarter that has hurt us."

n Upper Dauphin 68,

Line Mountain 56

MANDATA -- With Matt Miller's team-high 22 points leading the way, the Trojans ended the first half and the game with 20-point quarters to beat the Eagles for the TVL victory.
