It was not easy, but Bucknell added another Patriot League President's Cup to its name, extending its conference dominance in 2012-13.

The Bison finished with 120.25 points, which was just enough to earn their 18th Cup. Runner-up Navy, the 2011-12 winner, finished with 119.75 points, making this year's title the closest Cup victory ever.

Before the Midshipmen took the title away from the Bison last year, Bucknell had won six consecutive Cups.

The Patriot League President's Cup is given each year to the school with the highest point total in its conference standings for sponsored men's and women's sports. According to the Patriot League's website, the points "are awarded based upon a combination of an institution's regular-season and tournament finishes in each sport."

The Bison won this year's Cup despite not finishing atop of the men's or women's standings, only the second time that has occurred in its 23-year history. They finished second in both standings.

n Four Bison track stars reach East prelims

Four members of the Bucknell men's track and field squad will attempt to reach the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships when they compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries, starting Thursday.

Seniors Leonard Joseph and Luke Webster and sophomores Kevin Keller and Christian Lupica will be competing at the event in Greensboro, N.C., for the Bison.

Joseph, an Honorable Mention All-American last season, will be making his second appearance at the event, competing in the hammer throw. Last year, Joseph placed 12th to move on to the national championships, where he finished 17th. This season, he broke the school's hammer throw record with a toss of 209 feet, 11 inches in April's Bison Outdoor Classic.

Webster, competing in the discus, and Lupica, who is running the 110-meter hurdles, also broke school records this season. The two will be the first Bison to compete in their events at the East Preliminaries.

Keller will be competing in the long jump. He won the Patriot Leage title in the event after jumping 23 feet, 4.5 inches.

The top 12 in each event move on to the national championship meet, held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

n Two area throwers to compete at NCAA's

Two throwers from the area will be competing in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the women's javelin throw.

The meet will take place from May 23-25 at Wisconsin-La Crosse, with the javelin throw set to take place on Saturday at 3:45 p.m.

Ithaca College freshman and Lewisburg graduate Brooke Zimmerman is seeded eighth out of 22 throwers listed in the event. Zimmerman broke the Bombers' javelin throw record at the ECAC Outdoor Championships this past weekend. Placing third in the event, her record-setting toss was measured at 142 feet, 2 inches.

Seeded 11th in the event is KateLynn Strickler of Keystone College. Strickler, a Selinsgrove graduate, won the event at the Mason-Dixon Conference Championships, which were held the beginning of the month.

The junior also set her school's record in the javelin throw, at a distance of 139 feet, 10 inches.

n Two Bison make All-Tournament Team

Two members of Bucknell's baseball team made the Patriot League's All-Tournament Team after the conclusion of the conference tournament on Sunday.

Sophomores Anthony Gingerelli and Rob Krentzman were named to the 11-player team.

During the first game of Holy Cross' sweep of the Bison in the tournament's semifinals, both players registered multi-hit games. Gingerelli went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in the game, while Krentzman was 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and a run.

On the season, Gingerelli batted .284, driving in 13 RBIs. Krentzman was a .214-hitter, with two home runs and 22 RBIs.
