High School roundup: Ironmen take control early at Milton

BOYS BASKETBALL

MILTON -- Danville jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter to go on and beat Milton 61-40 for the Heartland-I win on Friday.

Zach Kozick led Danville (3-1, 2-0 HAC-I) with 14 points, while Bret Berg and Matt McConnell both chipped in 13 points for the Ironmen.

Chad Diggan led Milton with 15 points.

Midd-West 34

SUNBURY -- A slow start by the Mustangs helped the Braves get off and running for the HAC-I victory.

Ernie Tyler led Shikellamy (3-2, 2-0 HAC-I) with 14 points, while C.J. Tyler and Zach Herbster added 10 points apiece for the Braves.

Midd-West (1-4, 0-2) was led by nine points from Andrew Karchner.

Southern Columbia 39

WILLIAMSPORT -- Behind Roger Wilson's game-high 21 points, the Lancers easily took the HAC-II win over the Tigers.

Matt Klock led Southern (1-2, 1-1 HAC-II) with 13 points, while Bryce Parry added 11.

JERSEY SHORE -- The Bulldogs outscored the Indians 38-22 in the second half to break open a close game and take the HAC-I win. Austin Stine led Shamokin (1-4 overall) with 16 points.

n Montoursville 57,

Warrior Run 46

TURBOTVILLE -- After starting the game on fire, the Defenders cooled off down the stretch and fell to the Warriors in HAC-II action.

Lance Pealer scored 12 points to lead Warrior Run (1-3 overall), which was outscored 30-20 in the second half.

n Lewisburg 46,

Mount Carmel 36

LEWISBURG -- The Green Dragons remained undefeated on the season thanks to a high-scoring game from Travis Conrad in the HAC-II matchup.

Conrad scored 23 points for Lewisburg (5-0, 2-0 HAC-II), hitting six 3-pointers. Sam Allen chipped in eight points for the Green Dragons.

Ben Scicchitano had 12 points for Mount Carmel.

n Sunbury Christian 56,

Walnut Street Chr. 31

NORTHUMBERLAND -- All nine players who dressed for the game scored for the Eagles, with Blake Spangler-Jones leading the way with 21 points in the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.

Ashton Bartlett added 10 points for Sunbury Christian (4-6, 3-2 ACAA).

Columbia County Chr. 58

BLOOMSBURG -- All but one of the five players who scored for the Lions scored in double figures to lead them to the ACAA victory.

Graham Feaster and Curtis Klodnicki led Meadowbrook (3-3, 3-0 ACAA) with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Tyler Baughman added 16 points and Austin Schott chipped in 12 more for the Lions. Klodnicki also had 13 rebounds for Meadowbrook.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

n Sunbury Christian 52,

Walnut Street Chr. 19

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Tiffany Billings had a double-double and teammate Faith Gingrich almost had one as the Eagles cruised to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association victory.

Billings scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Gingrich had 11 rebounds to go along with her nine points for Sunbury Christian (7-1, 4-0 ACAA).

n Meadowbrook Chr. 46,

Columbia County Chr. 45

BLOOMSBURG -- Powered by Madison Burrows' game-high 24 points, the Lions pulled out the ACAA win. Mikayla Lynd added 10 points for Meadowbrook (2-3, 2-1 ACAA).

n Lourdes Regional 47,

Schuylkill Haven 31

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Sarah Getchey had 21 points and five rebounds to help lead the Red Raiders to the Schuylkill League win. Rachel Schultz added 14 points and seven rebounds for Lourdes (5-1 overall).
