WRESTLING

COUDERSPORT -- After an exceptional football season, Lewisburg's Brandon Smith has reached some rarified air on the wrestling mat as well.

Smith's 29-second pin over Bradford's Zach Zawatski at 220 pounds was the 100th for his career as Lewisburg took a 66-9 victory in Saturday's Coudersport Duals.

The Green Dragons also beat Coudersport, 54-23; but they fell to Maplewood, 37-36.

Smith became the 10th Lewisburg wrestler in program history to reach 100 wins.

Including Smith's win, the Green Dragons got a total of four pins.

SUNBURY -- The Braves got their first Big 7 victory of the year as they opened the match with four wins to beat the Little Lions.

A major decision from Dwayne Pepper at 195 pounds and a Dan Karpinski pin at 220 got Shikellamy (5-5, 1-0 BSL) out to a 19-0 lead.

The Braves later got pins from Nick Gittens (106), Tyler Hepler (126) and John Rohrbach (160) and also a big 3-1 decision from Tristan Paul at 132 that occurred over Mike Kauffman, a state qualifier a year ago.

State College falls to 3-9, 0-4 in league action.

Darryl Englehart also picked up a good win at 170, a 9-5 decision over Alex Silver, according to Shikellamy coach John Supsic.
