High school roundup: Warriors upend Green Dragons

MONTOURSVILLE -- At the beginning of the day there were three teams tied for first place in the Heartland-II standings. Now there's just two.

Montoursville is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in league play as the Warriors upended Lewisburg 34-32 on Wednesday.

Montoursville (9-2, 4-0 HAC-II) is tied for first place with Southern Columbia (9-1, 4-0), which also pulled out a close win over Mount Carmel on the night.

Kiersten O'Malley and Harley Mills both scored 11 points for the Warriors, who bounced back from an 18-7 halftime deficit.

Emily Conrad scored 12 points and Maria Kelleher added 11 points for Lewisburg (6-3, 2-2). Kasey Conrad chipped in nine rebounds for the Green Dragons.

n Midd-West 38,

Mifflinburg 33

MIDDLEBURG -- After a poor shooting first half, the Mustangs got big buckets from Jess Jones, Mikayla Beiler and Brianna Beiler late in the second half to pull out the HAC-I victory.

However, Midd-West (4-5, 1-3 HAC-I) didn't clinch the game until there were 12 seconds remaining. With the Mustangs up by two, Jones blocked a shot and was fouled rocovering the ball. She then made 1-of-2 foul shots to seal it.

Mikayla Beiler finished with 11 points for Midd-West, which out-scored the Wildcats 31-16 in the second half.

Mifflinburg (1-9, 0-4) was led by 13 points from Kayla Kline.

n Milton 43, Danville 40

MILTON -- Emily Baker's 13 points and six rebounds helped lead the Black Panthers to the HAC-I win.

Linea Brouse added 10 points and Brooke Swartz tossed in eight rebounds and four points for Milton (5-5, 3-1 HAC-I), which won despite committing 23 turnovers in the game compared to only 10 for Danville.

Amber Renz tallied 12 points and Kylie Romeo added 11 for the Ironmen (6-2, 2-2).

n Shamokin 52,

Jersey Shore 25

JERSEY SHORE -- Fifteen of Kelsey Yacko's game-high 22 points came in the first half as the Indians cruised to the HAC-I victory.

Shamokin improves to 6-4, 4-0 in league play. Jersey Shore is 6-3, 3-3.

n Central Columbia 60,

Warrior Run 52

TURBOTVILLE -- The Blue Jays took the lead and also control of the HAC-II matchup after scoring 23 points in the second quarter.

Steph Shamburg led Warrior Run (5-4, 0-4 HAC-II) with 18 points and Tay Parker added 10 for the Defenders.

Abigail Crawford scored 14 points to lead Central (6-6, 2-2).
